Andrew Catto BA Dip Arch AA RIBA
Director
Andrew graduated from the Architectural Association in 1973 and becoming a member of the RIBA in 1976. His time in Brunei experience includes as a project architect with John R Harris and Partners.
After this Andrew joined Johnston and Mather Architects, South West London, as the partner responsible for practice management and accounts. Projects included residential new-build and refurbishments for developers and private clients.
Andrew set up as a sole practitioner in 1999. Since then the practice has grown. It’s approach combines an understanding of building construction and history, while aiming to promote the use of natural light in addition encouraging clients to aim towards greener building where possible.
Andrew is one of the founder licensees of the innovative group, Architect Your Home.
Since 2001, Andrew has been an elected member of the governing Council of the Association of Consultant Architects, the leading body representing architectural practice.
Dina Lockwood BSc Dip Arch RIBA
Director
Dina studied at Bath School of Architecture and Building Engineering and Oxford Brookes School of Architecture. Between 1990 and 1995 Dina worked in several Bath architectural practices.
On graduation in 1995 Dina went to work for Crispin Wride in Reading during the formation of the Crispin Wride Architectural Design Studio. This provided an opportunity to work closely with him on a number of significant and prestigious projects.
In 1997 Dina joined EPR and spent the next two years involved with flat and office projects in central London. She assumed increasing levels of responsibility and qualified as a registered architect in 1999.
Moving to Aukett Associates shortly after qualifying, Dina became worked on high quality commercial new-build and fit-out projects.
In 2007 Dina joined Andrew Catto Architects and, like Andrew, is licensed to carry out Architect Your Home visits.
Melissa L. da Cunha BArch MA RIBA
Architect
Melissa graduated from Mackenzie University in Brazil 2001 and qualified as a registered architect in England in 2010.
Having worked with architects in a variety of roles on both large and small scale projects in Brazil between 2001 and 2005, Melissa moved to London and joined Andrew Catto Architects where she gained extensive experience working with practice principal, Andrew Catto Architects while she gained her English registration.
Melissa works independently on projects and contributes to the office’s administration including organising CPD’s for the staff throughout the year.
Derek Opara
Part 1 Assistant
Derek Opara graduated in 2011 from Manchester School of Architecture after completing his RIBA Part 1, and joined us in August 2011.
Derek’s experience as documented by his CV and brought out in his interview, shows an enthusiasm for architecture, illustrated by the projects both conceptual and built that he has been involved in. He has worked on architectural competitions within a team and independently. He has also worked on site as a laborer.
Derek’s energy for the making of architecture was developed by being involved with an RIBA sponsored project involving seven students selected to design, fabricate and assemble a temporary band stand or performance pavilion on London’s South Bank. This was as part of the Festival of Britain Exhibition running for the duration of the summer.
We look forward to having him as part of the team and assisting with his professional development over the coming year.
John Dawson ARIBA
Consultant Architect
In practice for over 40 years, John Dawson has enjoyed a very broad range of work and earlier in his career was employed in both private and public offices. In 1998 he became Director of an Architects practice in Wandsworth, London which in 2007 merged with Andrew Catto Architects Ltd in Putney, London.
John Dawson’s experience has included leisure centres, substantial housing projects and homes for the elderly in the public sector through to commercial buildings, schools and housing, including high quality domestic conversion projects. He has wide experience with historic buildings, one of which was converted into a successful, "Heritage Centre" in 2008.
His architects practice opened a subsidiary office in Cornwall in 2000 which transferred under Andrew Catto Architects.
John Dawson is a Consultant Architect to Andrew Catto’s practice and continues to lend his experience, design competence and contacts to it.
